We present a summary of experimental observations, data analysis and numerical simulations dealing with the interaction between seismic radiation and near-surface local geology in the city of Rome, Italy. We analyzed the seismic noise records collected either in the main sedimentary body of the city: the Tiber valley, and in one of its tributary valley: the Tor Carbone valley. Information achieved through seismic noise field investigation and with geotechnical measurements (down-hole, stratigraphic analysis, CPT measurements, etc.), allows us to better characterize, also through numerical simulations, the main features of the soil shaking in the city.
