• 1955-1960: Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Prague. MSc degree
• 1972: CSc degree (equivalent to PhD)
• 1960-1971 assistant professor
• 1971-present researcher, senior researcher (last years in part time employment)
• 1963-2003 seismologist in charge of the seismic station PRA

• Germany ( 8 months at University of Leipzig 1964/65)
• UK (12 months at ISC Edinburgh 1969/70), 3 months at Schlumberger Research Centrum during 2007/2008

• Calculation of kinematics and dynamics of seismic body waves in 1-D and
• 2-D media, using the ray method. Orientation to the P and PKP phases.
• Seismic event location.
