About The Meeting

Ada Lovelace Workshop on Modelling Mantle and Lithosphere Dynamics

The Ada Lovelace conference series originated in the late 1980s (then known as the Workshops on Numerical Modelling of Mantle Convection and Lithospheric Dynamics) and has been held biennially ever since. The previous meeting took place in September 2024 in Sète, France, and was organised by researchers from Université de Montpellier. The Czech Republic previously hosted the conference in 1993 and 2003. The 2026 meeting was organised jointly by Charles University in Prague and the Czech Geological Survey.

The conference brought together researchers working on mantle convection and lithosphere dynamics of the Earth and other planets, together with colleagues from related fields, including rock and ice rheology, seismology, and gravity studies. All participants stayed at the conference venue, Hotel Jezerka near Seč Lake in Central Bohemia, from 21 to 26 June 2026, fostering close interaction between early-career and senior scientists.

The programme featured 15 invited keynote lectures, poster presentations, daily meetings between students and keynote speakers, concluding plenary discussions, and a dedicated day of recreational and social activities.

More information about past workshops can be found on the EGU website.

A selection of photographs from the 2026 workshop is presented in the photo gallery.

Summaries of the 2026 workshop are available on the EGU Geodynamics Blog and in the Final Report.
